About Me

Hi, I'm Tara

Born and raised in Bradford, Pennsylvania, I started spinning when I was 13 years old and completely fell in love with it, starting on a drop spindle. At 16, my parents bought me an Ashford Elizabeth spinning wheel for my birthday, and I kept spinning my heart out. I went to school for fashion design and textile arts at Kent State University, learning to knit, and working in the fashion industry for a few years after that. In total, I left Bradford for 15 years, then came back to my roots after getting married and having two wonderful boys. Allegheny Fiber Arts has been the next step of my fiber arts journey, allowing me to add my vision of color to yarn and fiber. I am excited to see Allegheny Fiber Arts continue to grow in the coming years. All my yarn is hand dyed with eco friendly dye, set with citric acid, and all the colors I make come from only nine different stock dye colors!
